10 Moments You Want to Document with Your Baby

We’re fortunate to live in a time where documenting events is easy. Through a little device in our pocket we can take photos, audio, and video of anything near us and instantly share it with our friends and family. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and anyone else don’t have to settle with hearing the story. Our loved ones can experience powerful moments shortly after they happen.

It’s important we use this incredible advantage to capture a baby’s first milestones. They make all the stress, lack of sleep, and dirty diapers worth it. Not only will you have all the files and can view them over and over, but they’re perfect for scrapbooks!

Here are 10 moments you want to get on photo or video:

1. First smile – A baby’s smile can melt a mom’s heart. Babies can smile just a few days after their born, so be ready! A mother’s natural instinct is to care and provide for her baby and a smile is her reward.

2.First laugh – A laugh is confirmation that you’re doing something right. Now that you found a way to make baby laugh, you can repeat it and really bond.

3. First solid food – The funny part about any eating “firsts” is that your baby is usually a complete mess. They make for great Facebook photos.

4. Sitting up – This is a wonderful development because your baby has started to build all those necessary muscles. It’s the beginning of exploration!

5. Grabbing – When babies start to grab items, it means they’re beginning to interact with their world and meet their own needs. Usually it also means they’ll grab at you, which is the beginning of hugging.

6. Standing – The best thing about a baby standing up is that they always seem so proud of themselves, like they weren’t sure if they could really do it.

7. Crawling – Crawling is a blessing but means you have to keep an even closer eye on your little one.  On one hand, your little one can experience tons of new things. On the other hand, your baby is mobile!

8. First step – No other moment is met with more anticipation. Walking means mobility and independence. Be sure to get ready to take a video whenever you think your little one might take a step.

9. First word – It’s encouraging when a baby says their first word, especially if it’s your “mama” or “dada.” It’s inspiring when they can communicate with you on a higher level.

10. First birthday – Birthdays become less interesting the older you get, so the first one should definitely be documented!

Written by Stephanie Parker from Sleepingbaby.com, inventors of the Zipadee-Zip

The motto for Sleeping Baby, makers of the Zipadee-Zip, is: "Inspiring Dreams One Night at A time," and that, in a nutshell, is how it all started…with one little dream that has since become the Parker family's reality. When Brett and Stephanie Parker's daughter, Charlotte, was born, the feeling that welled up inside of them was indescribable; they never realized until first looking into those baby blues of hers that they were even capable of that kind of love.

When it was time to transition baby from swaddling, the Parkers tried every sleep sack on the market and every swaddle weaning trick they could find for nearly two weeks and nothing worked to get baby Charlotte to fall and stay asleep.

Stephanie became determined to restore sleep and sanity to their household and set out to find a solution that would soothe Charlotte's startle reflex and provide her the cozy womb-like environment she loved so much but still give her the freedom to roll over and wiggle around in her crib safely. Out of sheer desperation and exhaustion, the Zipadee-Zip was born. The first Zipadee-Zip(R) Stephanie put together on her little sewing machine worked like magic!

To date tens of thousands of Zipadee-Zips have been sold and all from word-of-mouth marketing. It is so rewarding for the Parkers to see other parents and babies getting the sleep they both need and deserve!
