10 Sweet Ideas for Celebrating Mother's Day

mother's dayThere's no gift that's too small for Mother's Day; it's the thought that counts so get creative and put some effort into making mom a surprise that she'll remember for years to come.

It's time to start thinking of a Mother's Day gift for mom! You might go with a sparkling piece of jewelry, a handmade card, or her favorite meal, no matter what you give your mom will find it sweet. Get your little ones in on the fun by having them help out with simple things, like creating special drawings or crafts. They'll love that they get to help do something nice for mom when she's always doing something nice for them. It's time to get creative and put some effort into your surprise! Use these 10 ideas.

1. Plan a spa day.

There's no better way for mom to relax than at a spa where she can get a deep tissue massage, soothing facial, and a mani/pedi. A day of pampering is just what she needs to feel rejuvenated and you can even plan a spa day for her at home with some homemade bath bombs, face masks, lotion and more.

2. Clean up the house.

Mom is constantly asking you to help her clean up the house by picking up scattered toys, books, clothes, etc. but how often do we actually listen? Tell mom to take the day off and get some fresh air outdoors while you stay home and clean the house from top to bottom for a present that will truly surprise mom.

3. Make a scrapbook.

A personal scrapbook for mom is a precious gift that she will adore because you can include pictures of the whole family and write short anecdotes and memories for her to keep. Have fun decorating the scrapbook with stickers and more and you can even make a special page for each member of the family.

4. Make sure mom is well rested.

If mom has little ones running around to take care of, chances are she isn't getting much sleep or relaxation. This Mother's Day, pick up a sleep garment for your child that helps babies make the transition out of swaddling with no fuss. Your baby will be asleep in no time and mom will truly be sleeping like a baby. Also, make mom a cup of chamomile tea the night before so she can get a good night's sleep.

5. Create a handmade card.

Most moms love receiving handmade cards from their husbands and kids. These cards come straight from the heart and show that effort was put into designing and making the card. Store-bought cards are nice but it's a homemade card that mom will treasure forever, especially when it has a sincere note inside expressing your love and appreciation for mom.

6. Give her flowers.

Everyone loves flowers and mom won't be able to resist a lovely bouquet of roses, tulips, or orchids. They smell wonderful and look beautiful when tied up in a ribbon and placed in a pretty vase on the table. You can even have them delivered to the front door with a sweet note card attached for an even bigger surprise.

7. Make her breakfast in bed.

Instead of having mom make you breakfast, return the favor by cooking up a special Mother's Day breakfast of all of mom's favorites. You can make blueberry pancakes, french toast, eggs and bacon -- and don't forget the orange juice! For an added bonus, serve it on a tray delivered to her in bed first thing in the morning and you're sure to put a smile on her face.

8. Make a coupon book.

A homemade coupon book is a great idea for kids because they don't have to go out and buy a present. All it takes is some paper and crayons and a little bit of imagination to come up with some fun coupon ideas. Make a coupon for one free back massage, a bubble bath, completed chores, a cooked dinner, etc. You can get really creative with these and mom gets to redeem them whenever she feels the need to take a break.

9. Get her a necklace.

You can't go wrong with getting mom nice jewelry and a simple necklace is a beautiful gift that mom can wear every day. The necklaces from Jinja Jewelry are handmade in Bali using high quality coral and silver jewelry. Their necklaces are exclusive creations and each purchase helps support the people of Bali by providing them with a safe and secure future.

10. Bake her a cake.

You can't have a celebration without having some cake! Find out what mom's favorite kind of cake is and find a recipe to bake it from scratch. It might take a few tries to get it right but it's pretty simple to bake a cake and it's fun to decorate. If all else fails, head to your local bakery and pick up a fresh cake and some cookies that mom will love.

Written by Stephanie Parker from Sleepingbaby.com, inventors of the Zipadee-Zip

The motto for Sleeping Baby, makers of the Zipadee-Zip, is: "Inspiring Dreams One Night at A time," and that, in a nutshell, is how it all started…with one little dream that has since become the Parker family's reality. When Brett and Stephanie Parker's daughter, Charlotte, was born, the feeling that welled up inside of them was indescribable; they never realized until first looking into those baby blues of hers that they were even capable of that kind of love.

When it was time to transition baby from swaddling, the Parkers tried every sleep sack on the market and every swaddle weaning trick they could find for nearly two weeks and nothing worked to get baby Charlotte to fall and stay asleep.

Stephanie became determined to restore sleep and sanity to their household and set out to find a solution that would soothe Charlotte's startle reflex and provide her the cozy womb-like environment she loved so much but still give her the freedom to roll over and wiggle around in her crib safely. Out of sheer desperation and exhaustion, the Zipadee-Zip was born. The first Zipadee-Zip(R) Stephanie put together on her little sewing machine worked like magic!

To date tens of thousands of Zipadee-Zips have been sold and all from word-of-mouth marketing. It is so rewarding for the Parkers to see other parents and babies getting the sleep they both need and deserve!
